Welcome to White Washed Walls of Andalucia

Andalucian holiday homes

Direct From The Owners

Frigiliana and Nerja on the unspoilt Eastern Costa del Sol, yet less than one hour from Malaga Airport. Three very special holiday homes – not typical villas – which have been converted, refurbished and decorated by the owners, an English couple who spent most of their lives working in architecture and design.

Beamed ceilings, quarry-tiled floors and hand-made tiles combined with modern facilities make these beautiful houses the perfect setting for your holiday – and of course, each house has it’s own private swimming pool.

Whilst a short drive away from some delightful and uncrowded beaches, these houses are in the real Spain, where mules and oxen till the soil and you may well find a horse tied to your railings whilst the rider enjoys an ice cold beer in the local bar. All our houses are close to the stunning pueblo blanco of Frigiliana, a mountain village of cobbled streets, Moorish alleyways and flower-filled patios.

The Spanish call this area Axarquia, where the Sierra de Almijara meets the sea. With the best climate in all of Europe (average 342 days of sunshine every year) it is the perfect place to enjoy jasmine-scented evenings on the terrace, lazy days by the pool and sample the local wine (very strong) and the fabulous cuisine (absurdly cheap). In winter take lunch on the beach, walk in the mountains and in the evenings curl up in front of your wood-burning stove with a good book.

On the other hand …Granada and the Alhambra Palace are only an hour and a half hour away. You can be skiing in the Sierra Nevada within two hours, playing golf on a top quality course within twenty minutes or visiting the Picasso Museum and Old Malaga Town in less than an hour.

It is easy to fall in love with this area, the people and the way of life – we did. The story is told in the book "Dog Days in Andalucia" by Jackie Todd, available from Amazon. We also fell in love with our houses and by visiting the following pages, we believe that you will too.

By the way, we live with eight abandoned dogs, so if you are thinking of driving down your own best friend would be made very welcome.
